Dear  ,

The first Advent is just around the corner - and for many, the search for the right gift begins. A wonderful opportunity to celebrate Christmas this year without shopping stress and consumerism. For all those who enjoy truly meaningful gifts with added value for today and the future, AgoraNatura offers the opportunity to give the gift of nature conservation!

Two projects are now looking for support to get started with the new year. Both projects are full of heart and soul and personal commitment - and of course certified habitat for nature on our doorstep.

With your support, the coming year will start with a plus in nature. If the funding is successful, you will receive the certificates before Christmas.

One hedge - many talents

At the Greifswalder Bodden, the Kaminski & Kurowski families want to plant a 30 m long and 6 m wide hedge with native field trees. The Friedrichshagen hedge project is intended to fulfil a variety of functions: The protective hedge serves as breeding habitat for field birds and as wintering quarters for amphibians, reptiles and insects. It helps to connect different habitats, which makes the use of the different habitats possible for some animal species in the first place. It provides windbreaks for adjacent areas and integrates already established conservation elements such as deadwood and stone reading piles. Last but not least, children can experience nature here and learn from it. To this end, the hedge offers them a range of fruit and edible wild fruits, flowering hedge plants, hedge nesting birds and insects, as well as experiencing the seasonal changes in the diverse hedge vegetation. The area is close to the Baltic Sea Coast Cycle Route and can be visited by arrangement with the Kaminski family. Until mid-December the project must be financed so that the hedge can be planted in spring and maintained over the next five years.

A refuge for highly endangered moor frogs

In the south of Greifswald, farmer Christian Ringenberg is looking for support to continue the existing "Moor Frog Islands" project. The aim is to create a habitat for highly endangered amphibians such as the moor frog, which is typical of northern Germany. In order to survive, it needs uncultivated areas with small water bodies, which were created within the framework of the project and are now to be preserved. In addition to the amphibians, many bird species, insects and reptiles also benefit from the conservation measures. Rare field wild herbs are also specifically promoted. The groundwater is also protected by not using the usual fertiliser and by permanently covering the soil. Funding must be secured by mid-February 2023 so that the project can continue.
