Über das Projekt

Initial situation

The arable land has been used conventionally up to now.

Why here?

The flowering area is located in direct proximity to valuable habitat elements in a sunny location.

What would happen without the project?

Without the project, the area can continue to be used for conventional arable farming.

The habitat would not be created.

Concrete measures

Greening in spring 2019 with regioseed, site-adapted seed mix with flowering cultivated plants and drought-tolerant wild plant species.
No mineral nitrogen fertilisation and no use of plant protection products.
Management rest until September, if necessary growth regulation.
In case of strong decline of flowering vegetation reseed after 2-3 years after previous light tillage.

You invest in the following ecosystem services:

Special habitat structures
  • Deadwood in sunny location in direct neighbourhood

No use of insecticides

Supported species
  • Diverse field wild herbs

Regio seed

Per certificate: 0 - 0.5 kg N Ground water services (estimation/literature based value)

Total project: 0 - 250 kg N Ground water services (estimation/literature based value)

Relevante Kenngrößen

No mineral N fertilisation

No plant protection

So everyone can experience the ecosystem service

  • The area is located on a designated hiking or cycling trail.
  • The area is accessible via a public street or path.
  • Pictures of the project are published annually on the online marketplace AgoraNatura.
  • Activities of environmental education and experiencing nature take place on / around the area.

The area is located in the Elbe-Brandenburg River Landscape Biosphere Reserve and the Lower Elbe Valley Bird Sanctuary. Regular adventure tours on different topics take place in the biosphere reserve. It is expected that the nature guard will include the flowering area in their guided tours.

Documentation in the implementation phase

The project starts on 01.09.2018 and exactly goes 5years , provided all certificates have been sold.

You will be regularly informed about the progress of the project. For this purpose, the providers can provide short news, picture or audio material. The providers are obliged to report at least once a year whether everything went well with the implementation. What will happen in 2022? (03/22)

Unfortunately, there is no new area yet, but we are staying on it to be able to create a new flowering area again this year.

The year 2021 (01/22)

In 2021, there was unfortunately a change in the farm that manages the area for us and could not continue the flowering area as originally agreed. We are still in discussion with the farm manager who is now responsible for the area and hope that we will be able to re-establish the flowering area at another location this year .... More on this shortly.

Monitoring 2020 Ferbitz (01/21)

In 2020, we again looked in June to see what was growing on our flowering area. For this purpose, we recorded all HNV species and other Red List species. This year, the field lady's mantle, cornflower, cranesbill, forget-me-not, wild carrot, chamomile, spurge, corn poppy, field asparagus, red pokeweed, hare's foot trefoil, vetch and small sorrel grew on the flowering area. As a special feature, the rare small mouse tail could also be found.

Report 2019 (09/20)

The monitoring in June 2019 has shown that at least 5 indicator species for valuable farmland are present along a transect and a total of 13 indicator species on the whole area of the created flowering area. The identification species found on the area include, for example, field asparagus, red scaled chickweed, cornflower, field lady's mantle and wild carrot. The flower mixture with regional seeds was sown in spring and was able to develop well despite the drought this year.
